How do you become a better personal trainer?

Any health care or fitness professional can improve, with these simple strategies:

1. Read one clinical article every week to stay abreast of the latest research and evidenced based practice

2. Take a virtual class/seminar on a topic that interests you and in the comfort of your own home

3. Pursue a specific specialization, whether it earning your CSCS, or your CES certification, specialization, will help you stand out, enhances your knowledge, shows that you are different from the rest. Put a small time in studying each week with the goal of completing a certification like the Certified Post Rehabilitation Specialist(CPRS) within 3 months.

4. Watch a webinar that interests you.

5. In the fall of 2021 or Spring 2022, pursue an in person live one or two-day seminar on a topic that interests you. By this time a majority of the country will be vaccinated and covid will hopefully continue to decline as we strive for some sense of normalcy.

Becoming better at anything requires a plan, patience, time and comittment. Most of all, it requires one to stick with a plan and deal with the bumps and annoyances along the way right?

Corrective Exercise Monday Education
For Shoulder Impingement(SI)

Shoulder impingement is a condition in which the humerus bone does not have adequate space to glide down during flexion and side raising of the arm. It is also a condition in which the AC joint is affecting the ability of the supraspinatus to abduct the shoulder. Or can be caused by weakness of the scapulorthoracic muscles coupled with a tight posterior capsule.

Physical therapy: manages this through patient education, manual therapy, massage, stretching and joint mobilization.

Post therapy training: should focus on posterior capsule stretching, stretching the tight upper traps and pectorals, strengthen the weak rhomboids, scapular retractors to help restore the scapulohumeral rthym(SHR). SHR should have 2 degree of glenohumeral movement to 1 degree of scapulothoracic motion. Which exercises are safe?
-Mid row exercise(rhomboids)
-Low trap pulldowns and lat pulldown to front of chest
-Standing external rotation with cable using tubing
-Seated posterior reverse flye machine

Train to attain and be safe.

Why is scapular mobility so important

Why is scapular mobility important? Scapular mobility is important because the scapula should be pliable and not "tight". Causes of a tight scapula are injury, rotator cuff surgery, trauma, poor posture. All of these situations affect the ability of the scapula to upwardly rotate on the thorax.

Muscularly, there is a force couple, where two or more muscles together cause upward rotation of the scapula--these include the trapezius(specifically the low trapezius) mid trapezius, and serratus anterior. How do you strengthen the low trapezius and Serratus Anterior?

Spondloliusthesis is no joke!

#PTCS #humanmovement education #spondylolisthesis Spondylolisthesis is not a new condition, however don't perform extension. As this will create forward translation of bone and increase more stability. 443-528-0527 www.pinnacle-tcs.com
